Break a Sweat – Not The Bank!

Jan 30, 2020 written by Tech

Okay thrift friends, your bargain blogger cannot lie. Like 45% of Americans who make New Year’s resolutions, I solemnly swore to lay off the enchiladas and shed a few pounds. I’m happy to report that I’m six pounds more svelte and putting a bit less hip in my hip, hip hooray!

And while Hope Family Thrift Store can’t make you eat more veggies, it can outfit you in workout gear that will inspire you to get your game on without any undo strain on your budget. Whether you work out at home, in the gym, or in one of Austin’s beautiful outdoor settings you’ll be the only one who knows that your wallet is on a diet as well. Check out what your empress of economy located on a recent visit while doing laps up and down store aisles – name brand manufacturers like Everlast, Fila, Green Tea, Nike, Champion and Asics, just to name a few.

Leggings, sports tops, hoodies, athletic shorts, yoga pants – most $6 and under.

The teal green Made-For-Life hoodie was still sporting its original $42 price tag but thrift store priced at $8. Even the $2 Incredible Hulk doll got in on the sweat action!

At Hope Family Thrift you’ll find women’s athletic shoes in the $5 to $9 range and men’s $7 to $15. This gym appropriate pink Neoprene bag is a mere $2.

And while we’re talking about losing, beginning tomorrow, February 1, you’ll “lose” 50% of the price off of anything you buy with a gray price tag. Yep…the coveted 50% off color tag for February is gray.

And to show that you might find just about anything shopping thrift, let’s give it up for the guy in Michigan who found $43,000 in the cushion of a sofa purchased at his local charity thrift store. And the best part of the story is that he returned every bit of it to the family who had donated the sofa in the first place! When the family heard that “something” had been found in grandpa’s sofa, they thought it might be family photos but it was cash! A whole bunch of it. You can read more about it here.

If that doesn’t motivate you to jog over to Hope Family Thrift, maybe this will: every dollar you spend goes to support the work of Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), an amazing collaboration of Austin Christian faith communities to respond to local disasters that impact our friends and neighbors. Maybe you saw the coverage of the New Years Day fire here in Austin that displaced 16 people (and one dog) from four apartments. ADRN was there! And that was just the first of ten fires ADRN has responded to in January alone! Your purchase helps to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support for local folks experiencing a disaster. That’s a resolution we can all stick to!

BREAK A SWEAT is the magic discount phrase from February 1 through 9. Just bench press your bargains to the cash register, tell them BREAK A SWEAT and they’ll take 15% off your purchase. No sweat!

Until next time, Happy Thrifting!
