Cashier (Burnet)
Hope Family Thrift Store supports the Austin Disaster Relief Network in providing for the needs of disaster survivors affected by fire, flood, tornado, and severe weather events. The store supports the efforts of ADRN through both direct donations to our survivors, as well as giving all net proceeds from the store to ADRN to help fund additional survivor needs. Hope Family Thrift Store is a faith based ministry that does require attendance at a short store update and devotional meeting each morning, and all applicants must sign a Culture of Honor document. Responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
Cashier Duties/Responsibilities:
- Processing and receiving cash and credit card payments with accuracy and efficiency.
- Balancing the cash drawer at the end of day.
- Bagging, boxing, and/or wrapping customer purchases as needed.
- Must have a working knowledge of how cash registers operate, and must learn to enter items in appropriate categories accurately.
- Assist with handling, processing, and pricing of jewelry and miscellaneous category items.
- Assist with maintaining the organization and cleanliness of jewelry and miscellaneous item displays, and the general register areas.
- Assist with maintaining the dressing rooms, and returning unchosen clothing to the appropriate clothing racks.
- Must be friendly and outgoing with a positive attitude, enjoy interacting with people, and be attentive to detail.
- Must be able to work Saturdays and Federal Holidays, and be agreeable to split days off to include Sunday and one day during the week.

- Extensive knowledge of the merchandise sold.
- Ability to anticipate customer’s needs.
- Ability to recommend merchandise to customers.
- Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store’s point-of-sale system.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
