Store Associate (Burnet)
Hope Family Thrift Store supports the Austin Disaster Relief Network in providing for the needs of disaster survivors affected by fire, flood, tornado, and severe weather events. The store supports the efforts of ADRN through both direct donations to our survivors, as well as giving all net proceeds from the store to ADRN to help fund additional survivor needs. Hope Family Thrift Store is a faith based ministry that does require attendance at a short store update and devotional meeting each morning, and all applicants must sign a Culture of Honor document. Responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Receiving, handling, sorting, processing, and pricing merchandise donations
- Researching and studying market trends for pricing considerations of higher end, collectible, or unique donations.
- Maintaining the organization and cleanliness of a department within the sales floor.
- Working in a receiving/processing/warehouse area with moderate air conditioning and/or heat.
- Cross-training of cash handling and register procedures to help the cashiers, as needed.
- Must have the ability to push/pull/lift 50+ lbs to assist with loading/unloading of boxes, bags, and/or furniture items.
- Must be a hardworking energetic individual with a positive attitude that values respect for all team members, and has a willing heart to assist the store in any area needed on any given day to help the store run smoothly.
- Must be able to work Saturdays and Federal Holidays, and be agreeable to split days off to include Sunday and one day during the week.

- Ability to recommend merchandise to customers.
- Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store’s point-of-sale system.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
